Eight minute record rejection

So, I've got a day where the boys at nursery and I can go down to the library and send off all the weeks job applications. Anyhoo, whilst midway through applying for a job I get another email telling me I was unsucessful applying for a job a whole eight minutes after I had sent the original e-mail with covering letter and CV. Obviously eight minutes is long enough to open the email take in the details about ones career and skill set then compose a response.

Speaks volumes doesn't it.

Oh no, that is shocking! Was it a standard email from a large company, or a personalised one? I was just wondering if it was a system generated one that would come out if you didnt meet certain requirements, as I got one of those from a large bank when along with your CV you had to fill in a short survey of high level questions re visa conditions, salary expectations, years of experience?

What line of work were you looking at? Its worrying, as it doesnt look like the job situtation is any better, yet they are still saying they're lacking skilled workers.

Design draughting (drafting here) it was a personalised response thats what amazed me. The other thing is I know my line of work is specialised and different industries don't seem to like using others eg civil design won't accept mechanical design etc. But no one is interested in tranferrable skills, could be a glut of people out of work in my trade. The biggest bummer is I worked for a long time in defence in the UK - no chance of that here unless I get citizenship, ah well... as they say its an adventure!

I applied for a job and had a similar rejection turnaround time too. I was using Seek.com, sent off the application to the email address supplied, (resume and cover letter), went back to Seek, found another job to apply for, opened hotmail again to send my resume for the second job and found the knock back from the first.

Took longer for me to write the cover letter than for them to assess my suitabilty. Still, makes a change from getting ignored, which usually happens!
