Question on Credit rating in UK when returning?

Hi there everyone.

Curious if anyone knows how your credit rating is affected when being away from UK for a while.

We have been away for 5 years...have a house here which we will sell. Our credit rating in Oz is very good....no red marks.

Did not own a house when we were in the UK but phone/bills etc. were all no probs. and our rating back then was very good (left for Oz in 2003).

Mmm do we need to start from scratch again re. our credit rating?

We would like to buy a house but how long would we have to wait before the bank would "Rate" us.

We do have bank account details still with a bit of money in them used mainly for our kids from grandparents and neice/nephew b'day presents etc.

Our deposit would be more than half the value of our future house as we would be selling up here in OZ.

Thanks

Your credit rating in the UK has no bearing on your credit rating in Aus and vice versa. All a point of jurisdiction. So for example you ran up thousands in debt in Australia in personal finance, you cannot be affected on your UK credit rating and the same in reverse. - Your credit rating therefor should be moderately unaffected as credit records last for 6 years in the UK not 5 years. The last recorded rating should apply.
