Hubby is going to have to buy a jeep/pickup when we get to Oz and we were wondering if anyone had any good experiences or bad experiences with any dealers there or could recommend a good dealer that we could purchase from.

All the major dealers holden, ford ,John hughes hyundai, same as in the uk ,but here they tend to be in their own spots ,wangara near wanneroo is a good example the street is caleed automotive drive, Obviously his job must be mine orientated ,they do tend to provide crew cab utes for staff

Thanks for letting me know, OH is carpenter, think prospects are better if you have your own transport thats the only thing and we will need it anyway for travelling around.

Heard of McInerneys in Perth but not sure what they are supposed to be like though, have you any experience of them

Try along Albany highway going towards the city and Vic Park. We looked at loads of places but ended up buying from private seller in Joondalup in the end. Make sure you bargain with the dealers on price as they always manouvre a little way and play hard ball!!!!

Can you get much of a difference off the price overall, say for example a pick up was 20 aud what sort of price would you start off at offering and how much lower do you think you would get it for roughly.

Just for us we both know nothing about cars so would be afraid of buying private - thank you for the info

you will be shocked at the prices of 2nd hand cars here.make sure you have deep pockets . try and stick with ford ,holden, toyota . i get the feeling they like you to buy ozzy made motors . the mrs 1993 318 bmw we sold back home for £500. over here the same car was nearly $9k. .

be cheey with them and just walk up with the cash. they will always budge on a price .

Is your oh going to be selemployed or use the pick up ( ute they call them ) as he would be able to claim it on his tax.

Thanks a mill for letting us know that we didnt know that at all, thanks a mill everyone for your info. Really appreciated. Hubby will be self employed once we get work lined up in Newman, going to stay there rather than fly in and out and get settled, will be dead quiet but worth it to sit and save.
