ACS MODL serious query - V.V.V.Imp for me

Dear All,

Apology if someone doesn't like me mentioning V.V.V.Imp in subject line. But, this is really very crucial for me.

I have submitted my application to ACS with mix of statutory deceleration and employer reference. I am claiming MODL point and I submitted my current employer reference in statutory deceleration like many I don't want my current employer to know about PR and even they willn't give any letter at any cost.

ACS is asking for employer letter if I want to claim for MODL point. What should I do now ?

Did anyone has seen claiming MODL points on statutory decleration ?

Appreciate your help

Thought I might be able to help but can't, I'm afraid it seems perfectly reasonable to me that a letter from your employer is required to prove you have the experience you are claiming.

I totally understand why you wouldn't want them to know about it but I see no option.

This reply will bump the post up and someone else might be able to help.

Good look

Jules

Hello bud,

I agree with Jules' post that you have no option but to provide the ACS with a reference...it needs to provide reasonable evidence that you have the necessary work experience (at the very least a reference for your latest period of employment should be submitted). IMHO you won't get the necessary MODL/CSL points on Statutory Declarations alone.

You MUST obtain a reference on company headed paper that is signed by a responsible person (e.g. line manager) who can vouch for what you did in the company and for how long. Make sure you try to get 2 signed and dated copies (one for the current ACS requirement and one for the main DIAC Visa application stage).

These are difficult times to be asking for references and you may well find that you have immediately 'shortened your career' at your current organisation; however you have to get the reference somehow and I guess you don't have too long to respond to the ACS.

Am I correct in understanding from your post that your employer does not give out references anyway (as a matter of policy)?

Hi Is there anyone else of a suitable rank that you could confide in and get a ref done on headed paper and with exact dates and duties?

Thanks for helping.

There are problems at two stage

a) colleague (as I don't have best mate at my work place) may hesitate signing on letter head. but I can try this at least.

b) getting it stamped is not possible at all

Do you have an Agent? You could have a word with Peter Chiam of PTLabs (specialist Agent in IT) - he is on here too.

Hi,

I was in a the same postion, I asked my employer to give me a reference for a mortgage application ( a little white lie), this was happily supplied and just stated that I had been working for them for the past 3 years in the position of Software Engineer at a salary of £XX,XXX pounds per year.

I also asked a close work friend to supply a personal reference of the type of work I had been doing since joining the company. Try to be as specific as possible, name projects and the technolgies used to reflect the area you are aiming for.

The only additional information ACS requested was some proof of my colleague's employement. This was supplied as a scan of his business card.

I was then successfully granted MODL points.

Hope this helps you.

I would try your option a)

After some careful consideration I signed a reference for a guy who worked for me back in 2006 when he was applying to go to New Zealand and neither of us involved the company HR department.

I suggest you very carefully sound out whether the colleague is comfortable in endorsing you privately on company-headed paper. In my case I had no problem in endorsing the person who worked for me when he made the request as a) I knew his skills/duties and 2) it suited both of us to keep things quiet for 9/10 months. However, in hindsight I probably should have run the scenario past HR (without mentioning the individuals name) to make sure I wasn't breaking a company policy on issuing references. I would definitely write out everything in advance to match the ACS standard template and simply ask them to read and sign if comfortable i.e. make things as easy as possible!

Best of luck as it's a very stressful situation to be in! If you need an example of a suitable reference format or Stat Dec format then PM me.

Thanks for helping.

I dont know if you are still waiting for ACS accessment, but I was in a similar situation and prepared a statutory declaration under oath and sent it to acs. They gave MODL points.
