Do you have to live in the state where you sponsor lives?

Hi

Our visa is skilled family sponsored and my OH's fam (who are sponsoring us and providing the assurance of support) live in Briz, QLD. Do we have to live in QLD when we get our visa? I havent found much info on the immi website but sometimes I do get google eyes from being on the comp for yonks! I know that the assurance of support is lodged through centrelink and being in a different state to your sponsor might not be allowed.

Thanks for any help

Hiya

We're going on a 138 skilled sponsored visa and as far as I'm aware you can live where you want.

Hope this is the case otherwise my mom better get ready to move :biglaugh: .

We have used an agent so I'm pretty sure I'm right.:skeptical:

Oh is this true???? Neither on DIAC's site nor on form 40 or booklet 6, does it say so. My uncle in Brisbane is going to sponsor me, but since he's on half pension, my bro in Sydney was going to act as AoS.

Can someone verify?

Dont panic Jenny! As Samozoon and Allan Collet confirmed above you dont have to live where your sponsor lives. My OH's uncle in Brisbane is sponsoring us and like you another family member in Oz is acting as our AOS.

Hi Dugong :spinny:

I didn't panic about you asking whether you have to live in the same state as your sponsor. That is clear on DIAC's site, since it does tell you that you can work and live in any part of Australia. What's worried me was your statement that if the person providing AoS lives in a different state than your sponsor, centrelink might not accept it.:swoon:

Did I understand you correctly? If so where did you get it? Coz I read every link I could find about AoS and none of them states such thing:

Jenny,

I think you need not worry about this issue - there is no requirement for the Assurer to reside in the same State as the Sponsor.

Best regards.

Oh :jiggy:

Alan, did anyone ever tell you that you're an angel?

Thanks a million!
