Guest The Picketts
Have any of you taken new furniture items (ie - sofa's, bed frames) from the UK in your containers? I understand there is import duty to pay on anything less than 1-year old. Does anyone know how much this duty is? Are receipts needed, even for items that look new but are over a year old? Also, has anyone had to have items treated (ie wooden items etc) by the quarantine officials on arrival at port? Any advice much appreciated....... ali
Use the search option, we brought stuff less than 12 months old - as cal said unpacked and repacked some stuff. some stuff did get checked at customs, xmas decs, garden stuff etc., but we didn't have to pay. I have heard if you pack stuff yourself then it does get looked at more than if you've used a company. Don't know if this is true or not. Guest The Picketts
Many thanks for that - we will be using a shipping company (just starting to get quotes) and will unpack and repack as suggested.
