:err:hi all,

I have been getting soooooo frustrated over the paperwork for vetasess and this is my cry for help! I have gathered most of the paperwork but me and o/h keep getting stuck on what to put in the work reference (to be given to the employer and printed on letterheaded paper). O/h is a mechanic and so any fellow mechanics woud be extremely useful!! basically i'm asking if anyone would email the job references they have used or a detailed template etc... We are totally stumped over the level of detail to be included so any help would be appreciated! my email is jenniferwilliams@hotmail.co.uk

thanks xxxx

hiya, hopefully a mechanic will be on soon to help you,im a bricky. but you answered it yourself really, lots of detail,i.e i had to put down different types of bricks/blocks used, using dumpy level,domestic/commercial work, what type of pointing etc. so yes plenty of detail,(adjust to suit mechanical tasks ,thats all)also had to list all the tools i used on every statement, and get a person in a position of authority in the company to sign it and state his/her company position,as i say hopefully a mechanic will help out but i would imagine its more or less as ive said. good luck with it anyway, sorry i cant help more.

Just need it to confirm where and how long you worked for the company as a paid employee and list all your duties. It should say you are competent using all tools and maybe list a few specialist tools. emphasise anything extra like mot tester. Someone told us you need to write pages literally spelling out how jobs were done and tools used etc. but we didn't.

good luck

Jenni,

I've just sent you an e-mail with my work refrence attached that i wrote when i was applying for my visa. Its very long and detailed and its about hairdressing but i thought it might still be useful for you to have a look at. It might take a couple of mins to open as it is quite long but think its def worth taking a look. I wrote all my refrences out myself then got employer/ex-employer to sign them, i also included pictures of me with clients/cutting hair/colouring hair,e.t.c., so it might be a good idea to include pictures of your OH working on cars and stuff.

Hope it helps.
