Hi Balga/Girrawheen(25 min north of perth) are suburbs that are not very expensive. They used to be full of goverment housing, but they have now knocked down all of the estate housing & replaced them with new units/houses. This has added alot to the area as it used to be a place no one liked. Not totally sure on area, got a friend in Mandurah but Butler looks nice too. We are me (Sobera 33, Martyn 34, Katie 7 and Kyle 2) Would like to make some friends before we go as would be nice to know somebody. There is a new train that travels from clarkson to mandurah, making the trip in around 1hr 30 min. You will make pleanty of friend in Butler if you chose there. As there are pleanty of poms around this area. Carramar is also another great spot is a little more inland then butler but 20 min closer to perth cbd. We are heading for Perth, very likely Yanchep, this Dec/Jan all going well with the house selling. We have a buyer, they have a bargain since we're desperate to go, so fingers crossed. We are definitely heading north and also really like Quinns Rocks, Butler, Carramar and many suburbs nearby. We are Gina(39),Steve(35),Michaela(18),Danny(9),Rachel(3). Looking at Rockingham areas Secret Harbour looks pretty good!!! OH is already out in Sydney has started his new job, thought it would be best to see if he suits them and visa versa. Hi Michelle, Since there's usually loads of people, everyone usually ends up in groups of chats and just swaps about so you may chat to four or five different bunches of people. Most people are really friendly, especially since everyones there to make friends and talk all about our favourite topic AUSTRALIA. The more you go, you find you can make some really good friends, possibly even going to settle in the same area in Oz. No doubt if you're on your own and people realise you're there for the meet-up, you'll be welcomed into the conversation. From you posts you sound lively so I'm sure you'll be spotted.:jiggy: I remember one time I'd managed to chat to lots of nice people going to Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide, then finally spotted a big group talking about Perth - really excited I got close and almost attempted to speak but they were having such a good laugh amongst themselves I held back, as didn't want to look a right pratt, so I'm sure these types of feelings are probably quite common. We might feel quite lonely at times when we first get to Perth especially missing family so going to meet-ups especially in Perth will be really nice to look forward to. I'm sure we'll have lots of great stories to share too. If you can make it to the Essex meet-up, let us know and we'll definitely find you there.:yes: Gina. We are going on a state sponsored 176 visa and hope to be out by next summer. We are looking at Secret Harbour/Baldivis areas but depends on where the hubby gets work and where we can find a rental! We have a little (putting it midly!) opposition from Trev's mum but so far everyone else has been quite supportive. Is anyone else going to the EXPO in London at the weekend?
