Hi there,

We are a family of 4 and have applied for 186 DE as registered nurse. Currently in Tasmania on 482 visa.

One of my children is Deaf and health assessment now reads as 'health assessed - wait further advice' is anyone able to shed some light on what may happen next? And how long we may wait to hear anything?  We have already been requested to send additional audiology reports which we have sent.

Thanks

It rather depends on what supplementary support your child needs in order to be able to function in school - if they need an Auslan environment with 1:1 support then you could find that the support costs could put you over the limit. They will be assessing capacity and how much support would be generated under disability criteria.

Thanks for your reply Quoll,

The only assistance they have is a teacher of the deaf who visits once a week 1 lesson. They use speech as main form of language so don't need 1:1 , they are fully independent and only require patience and some accommodations to environment which doesn't cost anything. Fingers crossed!

They will need to assess to determine the cost to the Australian community and weather it is within the parameters to pass the health requirement. This can delay things for a few months. It will really depend on what costs are assessed.
