NIFamily
Hi, My husband is a chartered mechanical engineer with an accredited masters degree under the Washington accord. He is currently working as an Engineering Project Manager. From our research it looks like he can get his skills assessed via the accredited pathway but what isn’t clear is whether this limits him to mechanical engineer jobs only or could he work in project management roles requiring an engineering degree/ skills. We would appreciate any advice or to hear from anyone with experience in applying for engineering skills assessment. thanks
rammygirl
That would depend on the visa. A skilled independent visa like 190 or 189 does not have any limitations on the work you do after arrival. So choose the skill you can prove the easiest. Employer sponsored visas require you to work in the specific post on the nomination. Mind you it isn’t always easy to step straight into a senior role as a new migrant…….
Marisawright
If you are applying for a skilled independent visa (189 or 190), then once you have been granted the visa and arrived in Australia, you can do any kind of work you like.
