Chris Pearson
Hi all, Looking for some advice, I'm currently on a 482 medium term visa and been in Melbourne since June last year. I've been offered a new job with another employer however I've been told that the business is being sold to another company in June who is not an accredited sponsor. I believe the new company will be seeking accreditation to sponsor staff once the sale goes through but where will that leave me in the meantime? Will I still be able to work during the time it takes to get accreditation or will I be in breach of my visa conditions? TIA
Steve Elliott
I'd suggest talking to your Registered Migration Agent. This is a very common scenario, so they will know the answer.
Marisawright
As Steve says, it's not an unusual situation but you are at risk of ending up in breach of your visa if you (or the company) puts a foot wrong at the wrong time. Unless you're not fussed about whether you go home or not, I would definitely say you can't afford NOT to hire an agent to look after your interests.
