  1. Thanks Marisa. My skills and qualifications deem me eligible for PR and a quick check on the calculator scored me 90 points. I think I might explore this option and lodge an application myself instead of waiting another 2 years for my employer to nominate and ultimately tie me to them for another year. Gives me the freedom to work for any company I like without my employer having something over me as well. Thanks for your advice.
  2. Hi all, Looking for some advice, I was at a BBQ on the weekend and someone was saying that one of their colleagues on a 482 visa managed to get PR after 3 months of being in OZ. Apparently they lodged an EOI for a skills assessment whilst on shore and gained PR that way. Can any migration agents confirm if this is actually achievable as my understanding of the rules with a Subclass 482 is that you have to have worked with your sponsored employer for 3 years before applying for PR? Thanks
  3. Hi all, Looking for some advice, I'm currently on a 482 medium term visa and been in Melbourne since June last year. I've been offered a new job with another employer however I've been told that the business is being sold to another company in June who is not an accredited sponsor. I believe the new company will be seeking accreditation to sponsor staff once the sale goes through but where will that leave me in the meantime? Will I still be able to work during the time it takes to get accreditation or will I be in breach of my visa conditions? TIA
  4. They have only advised that Qantas have temporarily suspended the service however I've been in contact with Qantas myself and been told they should resume the service in June/July. It was a bad line when I called so I was told to email them however I sent the email six days ago and haven't had a reply and when I call they don't answer. Seems like a lot of pet couriers are waiting for an update from Qantas which I can understand but I'll persevere and hopefully get a concrete answer asap as we don't want to leave him behind. Chris
  5. Hi Cal, We had his nasal passage widened and pallet shortened about 3 weeks ago so he should be good for the flight, we also had him neutered as well. The company we are using is called Air pets who are based in the UK but I'll welcome advise from Bob. Thanks Chris
  6. Hi, Myself and my family are immigrating to Melbourne in June and want to take our 6 year old French Bulldog. He had his rabies vaccine in November and passed the blood test. The issue we're having is we can't get him over as Qantas have suspended pet freight from the UK albeit I was told this will be resuming again June/ July but nobody seems to want to give me it in writing. I've tried speaking to Qantas freight London office but they don't answer the phone and haven't responded to any emails which is frustrating as we need an answer. The only other option would be to use Emirates but they only fly that route Oct - Apr. Does anyone work for Qantas who can let me know if they're resuming pet freight from the UK and if so when?
  7. Fair play mate, my agent works for the company that's sponsored me so I'm assuming all will be good it's just a waiting game for the visa to be granted. Cheers
  8. My agent said the two incidents aren't an issue and she'd let me know when she hears back from them. My application was lodged 11th January so they assessed it pretty quickly just wondering hiw long I can expect to wait to hear back
  9. Thanks for the reply mate, fingers crossed all goes through and there isn't much longer to wait. The application was only lodged 11th Jan so they got back to me pretty quick requesting a statutory declaration so I'm hopeful I'll here something soon.
  10. I forgot to mention, neither offences resulted in any convictions or court appearances. The possession of cannabis was a £80 on the spot fine and the insurance certificate offence was a police caution with no further action.
  11. Paul, regarding immigration wanting more detail, would this be in the form of a statutory declaration? I ask this as my police check said no live trace but I have declared possession of cannabis and producing an insurance document with intent to deceive (it was water damaged). i've submitted a statutory declaration which my migration agent reviewed first so now waiting for a response. Do you know if these offences will stop my visa being granted?
  12. Hi all, My migration agent recently lodged my 482 medium term visa application for myself and my family. My ACRO police check came back with no live trace however I know of two minor offences that occurred 10+ years ago which didn't show on my police check. My migration agent advised me to write a statement explaining them and immigration have asked me to submit a statutory declaration (I'm assuming it's because there's no evidence of me committing the offences). I have completed this and had it witnessed by a Notary Public in the UK which my migration agent reviewed and approved before hand. Any advice on the process after this and timeframe as to when I will hear back with a decision if my visa will be granted? Note: the offences were possession of cannabis and producing an insurance document with intent to deceive ( the certificate was water damaged) Thanks in advance Chris
