SomethingInteresting
Hey All, I'm looking to add my daughter to my Australian Visa application along with my partner. As my partner is not my child's mother I need to include form 1229 here her mother grants permission for my child to be in my care in Australia. Has anyone here gone though this and do you have any examples of the accompanying letter to go along with form 1229? I'm nervous that I will have only one chance to get this form signed completed by the mother and will also need it to be accepted by Immigration. P.S although my daughter will be included in my skilled visa application, she may not necessary reside in Australia with me after the initial entry when the visa is granted. I just want her to have the option to return once she is 18 [currently mid teens]. Thanks for any help you have.

A PR only includes 5 years of travel rights. After the 5 years are up one has to apply for a residents return visa to cross the border. It becomes much more complicated to get one of these when you don't live in Australia.

Thank you, myself and my partner intend to spend at least the two out of five years in Australia to meet the resident return visa requirements. However the daughter won't be making a decision to live or work in Australia until after she finishes school at home. I want to try get her residency while she is still a minor so she can have the option. The five years should hopefully cover her to enter until she is 20 21. I'm worried that if she isn't on the visa with me she may not qualify for one in her own right later.
Ausvisitor
It's true that if you don't include her on it now she won't qualify for one herself (except the one/two year working holiday visa) herself until she has a career and experience on the skilled list. So it's the right thing to do to get it sorted now. Just be aware that if she intends to go to uni in the UK she won't be finished that until at least 21 so it might not be of use to her in the long run. Note in normal times she would also need to activate the visa within 12 months of getting it (as do you) so she would need to have a holiday there sometime soon after grant
