Returnhome
Hi, Hubby applies for spouse visa in August this year. I’m really impatient to return to Australia and would like to go March next year after my husband’s contact finishes. The waiting times are 17 -21 months. Could he arrive on a visitor visa and apply for a bridging visa and would it let him work right away? Also would he gave to let the three months visitor visa run out first? Thanks. Marisawright
You can’t apply for a bridging visa, it is granted automatically when you apply for a partner visa onshore.

Short answer ... no. Bridging visas are granted for applications made onshore for visas that can be granted onshore. 9 hours ago, Marisawright said: You can’t apply for a bridging visa, it is granted automatically when you apply for a partner visa onshore. Actually, you do apply ... generally, with a few exceptions, the application is made on the same form as the substantive visa application.
