Guest JoanneHattersley
Depends if you have PR or not. We never did when we got our mortgage. If you do NOT have PR it does kind of limit the banks that will lend. We are using Bankwest and have had no issues with them at all. We have all our bank accts with them too
Guest uuayne
Carly, Heaps of banks to choose from. Some Banks will lend to persons on 457 - but ar generaly restricted to borrow 80% of the purchase price. There are a couple of lenders who will go to 90% on 457 but only if employment and salary are good. Wayne

Lynandsean
All the major banks will lend if you are on a PR visa, - after a month if you are working in the trade you gained your PR visa on or 3 months if not. 20% deposit required either way I believe. Bear in mind that the mortgage rate here is presently around 9.5% and the banks will increase their rates regardless of what the central bank does - ouch! Jo&Rich
As Rich is self employed now (wasn't in UK) we have to wait 12 months from when he started work to apply for a mortgage, which is a pain. We spoke to someone at Aussie, another mortgage broker, and she was very helpful, and they have branches around the country I think, definitely Brisbane:cute:.
