catsndogs
Hello, after 12 years in Perth we are gearing up to move to Wiltshire next year to be back nearer the rest of the family :) Our 13 year old son needs braces (could start treatment now or any time in the next 12 months), but his orthodontist here has suggested we wait and start treatment back in the UK as he thinks it might be difficult to have someone else take over care - and might even want to remove the braces and start again!! (Be nice to use the private health insurance towards it here, but waste of time if they take them all off again!) Has anyone found it to be a problem or can share any experiences please? Thanks :)
Guest The Pom Queen
Hi @catsndogs I don’t know the cost in the UK but it was over $7,000 if I remember right for my son and even though we had too cover for extras the maximum we could claim each year was $900. Although we didn’t move overseas we did move area and had another orthodontist take over the care with no hassle at all. If you do decided to start it before you go back and whilst you have cover I suggest beginning in December and putting a claim in for this year and then a claim in for January for 2019. That’s how we were advised to do it. Although check with your policy if you are going to be cancelling it if that would work for you. ali
Is it worth contacting an orthodontist in the area you're moving to and asking them the question?
Quoll
It’s certainly a problem in the reverse direction- I think because they don’t want to be responsible if it doesn’t work (or cynical me, because they want to charge you the full whack!). I’d be contacting an orthodontist where you’re going to live and ask them.
catsndogs
yes, thanks for the replies, I'll have to contact the orthodontists there and see what they say to be on the safe side
