Ash123
I’ve just started to look into this and not that clued up on mortgages and stuff! Was just hoping for any pointers, who to speak to, who not to speak and any advice from anyone that has recently done this. Anything on this at all would be greatly appreciated, Thanks a lot ? louise7981
Would be interested in any information on this also. I did see that there are companies that specialise in expat mortgages - I've not gone as far as to look into it yet but might be somewhere to start. Anyone any experience using such companies? Would be interested to see if it would be worthwhile organising from Australia or better to just head back then get a mortgage organised once settled. LKC
I suppose you could contact a few mortgage brokers and see if they could help you. I'm not sure if it would be allowed though. I'd have thought you'd have to show something like a contract of employment or some pay-slips from your UK job in order to get an offer of a mortgage. Tulip1
Do you mean for you to reside in or a buy to let? Both is possible, subject to income but if it's a residential mortgage and you are living elsewhere then the affordability may be an issue. This is because your outgoings would of course be higher as you would then be paying to run two homes. It of course makes no sense to buy a house that would be left empty so you may need to provide more details as to your plans so that others can perhaps help you
Marisawright
The other thing to look at, if you're considering buying to let in the UK, is tax. You'll have to declare the rental income on your Australian tax return.
