Luney21
Hi, I have been doing adult social work in the UK since September 2016 and now aged 37 (Already used my life line WORKING HOLIDAY VISA back in 2008). I applied for some newly qualified vacancies and was informed that because I have been working for over 12 months as a social worker in the UK I would not qualify. However, all the current vacancies I have seen require a minimum of 2 years experience. Does this mean I have to wait until September 2018 before I have any chance of moving over to Australia or is there another option? You input and guidance would be much appreciated. Many thanks Darren
VERYSTORMY
If you are looking for a permanent visa, then applying for jobs may not be the best route. Generally, employer sponsored visas are only temporary. Have a good read of border.gov.au and look at the visa options.
barker
I think you'll find the experience requirement is a moving target based on the employer. I would apply anyways and see what happens. Who knows, they may hire you. Many times the requirements are not firm. Lots of government jobs are fixed and require specific things but just go for it. Give it a shot. DukeNinja
It might be worth getting your skills assessment done and dusted, alongside your professional registration beforehand. This means that any prospective employer then only has to sort out the visa. You'll be a more desirable candidate than the next immigrant social worker.
