Lau
Just looking for advice on bank accounts. I plan to backpack around Aus in about 6 months time on a working holiday visa. I'm wondering which bank is best to create an account with in regards to atms locations, withdrawal fees, international transfers etc. Thanks
Guest
Do they have a list or total of ATM's? I'd probably go with whichever one has more and charges a reasonable monthly fee. International transfers shouldn't be an issue if you use a for ex company. Some good ones around. We don't transfer between banks directly internationally but use a for ex. Works well, good rates. Lau
They allow me to search certain areas but can't find a list as a whole. I think they are about the same so I'll probs just pick one and go with it. Thanks for the transfer advice!Sent from my SM-G928F using PomsinOz mobile app
Collie
Not much between them as the 2 market leaders. CBA for me for the quality of their online/app banking. ING Direct worth a look also and allow you free use of any ATM (with some minor conditions)
ScottieGirl
I used Westpac and they were fine lots of ATMs and good internet banking. No monthly fee either if you stay in credit. You can transfer overseas via online banking but you will get a better rate with one of the dedicated online transfer sevices such as Transferwise. Ken
No matter who you bank with you can get cash out at a Woolworths till fee free and without needing to buy anything (most other Supermarkets will let you take cash free of fees too but they generally expect you to buy something). vickyplum
I''m personally a CBA customer and I really like their app! I use the account to make overseas transactions, but have never transferred money in from GBP - as I like to keep my pounds in my UK a/c.
