Leigh
Hi! We are looking to move to Australia, but I am currently a student and would like to do a post grad in teaching there. My question is- as I have children I wouldn't want to uproot them twice. What would be the chances of staying in Oz on a permanent basis after I qualify? Quoll
What sort of teacher? Probably not a great option as teaching isn't on the lists much any more due to a huge oversupply except for a few specialist areas. Not an occupation one would recommend these days unfortunately. MaggieMay24
Teaching occupations are on both the long-term and short-term lists. However planning to move when you are a student can have a few issues. Firstly, students are supposed to confirm their intention is to study only and that they meet the Genuine Temporary Entrant criteria. I think the government is also tightening up on this criteria. Secondly, although teaching occupations are on both lists at the moment, things can change drastically between now and when you graduate.
