Hi,

We are looking to relocate to Queensland with our two children (2.5yrs and 4mths).  Does anyone have any advice on good suburbs based on the below requirements please?

Commute to the city sub 1hr

Close proximity to the ocean

Good schools

Village community with lots of young families

Large blocks

We have already been recommended Cleveland, Wellington Point and Wynnum so keen to get people's views on these places as well.

Thank you!

Whilst not sure that you will get Village community except out in the sticks somewhere, you could add Victoria Point and Redland Bay, within 1 hr drive to city or 15min to Cleveland train for 1hr train ride, but all the places named so far are Bay side so you will not be getting ocean waves rolling in onto golden sandy beaches you would have to go to the Redcliffe Peninsula or down towards the Gold Coast for that.

good luck with your move

When you say large blocks, how large are you thinking and what is your budget?

Large blocks in close proximity to the ocean with an hour commute of Brisbane come at a massive premium.  We live in Mt Cotton and here, Cornubia and Sheldon have large plots, even acreage, but 15-20 minute drive from the sea and no village-feel.

Wynnum is good. Of course there are some streets that are nicer than others the same as anywhere. Commute is only 30 minutes and where I am, the water is a 10 minute walk as is the train station. The golf club is pretty good and there are a few good places to eat or get a drink without needing to go into the city.
