Pixie77
We're moving back in about 6 months. Just after some help on the logistics of it all. Got a house to sell &cars etc got a house contents to ship +flights to book.... plus 2 young kids.... so how did everyone do it? Wait until house on market to ship belonging? Then book flights once contracts signed? Want to go straight from house to plane don't really want to rent anywhere.
Guest
Perhaps you could negotiate settlement date to be the say the week before you leave and stay in a holiday rental? Or make it the day before then stay overnight in a hotel near the airport? Another thing to consider what is the sales market like for houses in your area are they selling quickly for something equal to yours? There's always a chance it won't sell in the time frame you a working with.
VERYSTORMY
You can complete a house sale from the UK. We did. The only pain was that the sale documents have to be signed by Australia house which meant a trip to London, but not hard. Otherwise you have to plan everything, including the move date around the sale date.

Only good thing is that Hubbie is transferring so still with same company who will be flexible so won't be booking flights until contract signed I think. Yes think we'll try to get settlement date & then a few days in hotel/rental . Thanks.... not looking forward to the chaos!
Pixie77
Thanks hadn't even thought of leaving before house sold! Something to consider during the madness of leaving!
bristolman
It takes a bit of juggling but can be done quite easily. Our house sold within a week BUT then the buyers messed us around, settlement date kept changing but we got there in the end. We had a container dropped in our drive and had it picked up a couple of days before we left. We moved out of the house and stayed with friends a few days. This was with 2 young kids. bristolman
Thanks- wow a week! Ok yeah don't really want to move in with friends but could if needed It was actually a couple of days, it went on the market and the first people to view it bought it. It would be just as easy to book into a cheap motel for a couple of days but our friends insisted. It all seems a lot more daunting in your head, just be methodical and it's easy.
