vrat
Hi All, I hold an Australian Skilled Migrants sub class 175 visa and is yet to make the permanent move to Australia. Recently, I have been granted British Citizenship and therefore the passport and the nationality details submitted on the original application are no longer valid. I did my research and found the application (929) and evidence I need to submit to DIAC. I emailed these to 929.update**************. I received a reply yesterday stating that the updates have been done and the new passport details are noted against the visa. However, when I log in to the VEVO section of border.gov.au, the new passport details aren't on there; still has the old passport and nationality. I have replied back to the agent querying about this and they are yet come back to me. In the meantime I logged in to my immiAccount and figured out how to update passport details via their website, but when I try to change the passport details, it does not allow me to change the country the passport was issued. Anyone been in the same situation or have any advise? Much appreciated. Thank you in advance. V
Marisawright
Were you forced to surrender your original citizenship to get your British citizenship? If not, then you don't need to do anything because your original citizenship and passport are still valid.
vrat
Hi Marisa, Thank you for the reply. My old passport is not valid anymore. I will not be using it for future travels. Cheers V
MaggieMay24
You may need to send a copy of form 929 plus scanned/certified copy of your new passport to DIBP via email to get them to update it. I've never tried to update my passport details, but perhaps you can't do both passport number and country of issue/citizenship via the ImmiAccount.
