Shaunohan
Hi Guys, new here and seeking advice on career opportunities within Health and Safety Management and Auditing. I have an MSc Degree and NEBOSH qualifications. I would like to know if these are recognised and career opportunities at present for my skillset with 11 years Health and Safety experience. Suzukiscottie
What's your degree in? Aussie employers really look for Australian qualifications; mentioning your Nebosh qualifications will largely get a blank look in return. Shaunohan
Hi thanks for getting back to me. I have a Masters degree in Occupational Health Safety and Wellbeing. Upon looking at mining careers they request NEBOSH. Is it not that well recognised in Melbourne? I am looking to move to Western Australia. JEM44
Hi, I may be wrong but I think safety came off the required jobs list for visa applications. I might be wrong though!
Shaunohan
Hey Jem. I checked the SOL list for Health and Safety Advisor but where can I find the most upto date list?

Shaunohan
No worries Jem. Can I ask you what would be the 1st step or even the step by step process is?
JEM44
Have a look here: http://www.migration.wa.gov.au/services/skilled-migration-wa/occupations-in-demand my PR was against this for H&S advisor. They don't recognise NEBOSH but your degree with get you through Vetases. Only issue at present is that there are next to no jobs on offer at the minute and I've seen a marked decline over the past 12 months looking on Seek. We move in May and I'm starting to get nervous. Shaunohan
Is the decline mainly in WA? What about other states?
JEM44
Is the decline mainly in WA? What about other states? We are moving to WA so unsure about other states, the decline of mining has clearly had a significant effect, Sadie seems to have affected all areas of work in this field. Shaunohan
We are looking at WA. What is your profession and did you go over on your visa?
Jessica Berry
Have you read this thread? Saves people retyping similar information....... http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/jobs-careers/242885-health-safety-advisors-help.html
VERYSTORMY
Is the decline mainly in WA? What about other states? The mining downturn is obviously hitting WA particularly hard. However, a lot of people are looking interstate and people moving interstate. So, even if you qualify for a visa, jobs in your area would be a challenge.
