Ideally want a Tax Agent with experience of UK tax system, as its a transition year for us with the need to pay Tax in UK and Australia, plus we are on a provisional 489 visa. It sounds like it would be a good idea to have someone who's experienced in both tax regimes but they are very thin on the ground. There's no reason you can't deal with a tax agent via email/phone and I think it would be better to deal with a specialist remotely, than to settle for an Australian-only tax agent face-to-face.
