You would need to contact immigration regarding the change in role and would require approval.

Is the job still being a diesel mechanic albeit with some other responsibility? It's a bit like when I was here on my 457. My visa said electronic engineering technician, but my job title had "manager" shoved in there too. I was still "on the tools".
adaminoz
And remember that if you intend to use temporary resident transition scheme, your clock on the 2 years will restart when you change roles.
gilesm89
Is there a website where you can check what your 457 visa role is provided? I'm not 100% sure what mine is and am going through the same thing!

paul566
start again ? surely not, the new role is still as a mechanic just more of a manager role.
adaminoz
Then don't change job title then. New role & title means new visa. Sorry. Not my rules!
adaminoz
Bungo said you might be able to get the new role approved, but I'm pretty sure that the TRT scheme requires 2 years in the same role, that's what I meant by starting again.

Also, your employer would be able to change your 457 nomination, so you certainly can accept the promotion. all the best
