Epzone
Hi Been in Canberra for nearly a month now. Just wondering if anyone does fishing here? Looking for company to do some fishing and find some spots. Cheers Eugene
Quoll
Usually quite a few folk on the lake - mainly Asians after the carp. No idea where to go for anything else I'm afraid.
Bobj
G'day mate, almost anywhere you can cast a rod is ok...Plenty of species to target; "Lake Burley Griffin was created in 1963 by the construction of the Scrivner Dam across the Molonglo River, and was named after Canberra's designer. Fish found here are Golden Perch, Silver Perch, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Redfin (English Perch), European Carp & Murray Cod. Carp & redfin are the main species caught here." The murray cod grow to about 30kg, but these are rare. Saw footage of a 27kg being caught. Best to chuck big lures at 'em... Can't help regards fishing mates. Cheers, Bobj. Slean Wolfhead
Googong Dam has big murray cod, over 1 metre. A pommie first-timer I know caught two on his first day ever fishing, apparently that's quite rare... :-) There 's a fly fishing place on the way to Bungendore that's meant to be good. Also, if you like sea fishing...google Bermagui. Not very far away from Canberra, tuna, marlin, sailfish.
