Mrsfilip
Hi all, I currently work in development control in local government in the UK. Would anyone have any knowledge or experience of job prospects i.e salary, qualification requirements, demand etc. in development control/urban planning in Australia, particularly in Perth? P.S. We are applying for the 189 based on my husbands skills, not mine. Thank you in advance
benj1980
It's just been taken off the skills list, so presumably there isn't a great demand at the moment :-/
Mrsfilip
Thank you benj1980, but I just wondered whether anyone had any experience looking for work in planning in Perth and/or the rest of australia...?
benj1980
I'm looking at Perth and have seen the odd regional planner job come up in the area. Actually I was a bit surprised it came off the list. That said its one of those industries where local way of working is hugely beneficial, getting Australian experience will be key. I enquired a couple of years ago as I was considering a career change.
Wan2go
Have a look on http://www.seek.com.au/ for starters.... PS I work in the same department, but I'm not a planner!
VERYSTORMY
Is it still on either of the skilled occupation lists - SOL / CSOL?
Mrsfilip
Thank you for your replies. It was taken off the SOL this year, not sure about the CSOL's though.
VERYSTORMY
Thank you for your replies. It was taken off the SOL this year, not sure about the CSOL's though. Then you need to check this before you consider anything else as if it is off the CSOL then everything else is academic. If it is still on, then you need to see if any states are sponsoring it. Mrsfilip
Thank you, but my occupation doesn't affect our visa application as we are applying based on my husband's skills so just wondering about my job opportunities
VERYSTORMY
Ah - sorry, didn't realise. Have a look at indeed.com.au as well as seek as indeed picks up jobs not advertised on seek. However, do be aware a number of states and councils are undergoing cuts at the moment.
