susanbro
Has anyone over the past few months applied for 457? If so, how long was the processing time from submission date? Thanks
Aussiegirl
Bump it up for someone to see, I do know some people who have received them back after 6 moths
MaggieMay24
They generally take 4-8 weeks, but much depends if the employer is already an approved sponsor since that's an additional step if they aren't. Some applications seem to get lost somewhere in the shuffle so they can take longer.
birdy990
my husbands a bricklayer and we went through a migration agent, the application was submitted on 17th March and approved on 25th March - 8 days!!!
susanbro
Thanks Ladies, @Aussiegirl @MaggieMay24 @birdy990 - our sponsor is already approved and we used an agent who submitted our application today. Fingers crossed for a quick turnaround xx
susanbro
Now at day 7!! Has anyone had a 457 granted the past few days?? xx
susanbro
@MaggieMay24 you seem quite clued up on these 457's. Are the processed from a different place than the PR and pretty much treated differently. Reason I'm asking as a few friends are waiting on decisions for 189. They called immi today to get an automated message along the lines of 'we have a backlog, if you haven't heard from us by 1st Aug then call back' so was wondering if that would affect 457's as well? Thanks xx
MaggieMay24
I'm not sure to what extent visas are centralised to certain offices. I've seen information that parent visas go to Perth, but other than that I don't know. I've focused more on getting the information assembled and lodged vs. where they've been processed. susanbro
Thanks for replying @MaggieMay24. I'm still waiting for our visa grant, thought we might have heard this morning. Very disappointing lol xx

OakeyDokey
Just completed one for a new employee about 2 months ago, once the visa is submitted and everything is in order, no longer than 2 weeks if the sponsoring company is on the list its pretty fast. susanbro
Thanks @OakeyDokey. The employer is an approved sponsor and we are now at day 11 - fingers crossed we hear this week then. Thank you for responding xx

susanbro
Its madness @grapple, some people are getting theirs back in 1-2 weeks yet others are waiting months xx

susanbro
@chris999 what area are you planning to move to as I'm hearing rumours that depending on where you are going also determines how long you wait? I have a friend who is at week 14 for hers, so is very frustrating for her and as I'm only at week 2 now panicking that we may have longer to wait xx
chris999
Hey susanbro, coincidently I actually got my visa granted today I woke up to an email stating I had it which was weird. I'm going to Melbourne if that helps? I largely think it has to do with how complete and thorough the submission is and the demand for that area..... That's amazing Chris well done You're about 3 weeks ahead of us. If we have to wait 5 weeks rather than 14 then I'm good with that lol xx
chris999
Thank you, still not really had chance to think about it as I've been in work all day. I was prepared for a 12-14 week wait but obviously that wasn't the case.... Good luck with yours

subdividedyoghurt
Hi, my company will be sponsoring me within the next month or so. They are already an approved sponsor so hopefully it will be quick, however, they are also adding my de facto partner to it, so whether or not that affects things remains to be seen. I will update the forum with the progress when the process starts.
susanbro
Woo hoo my 457 was granted this morning So that is 1 day shy of 3 weeks. Nomination approval came through straight before the grant email xx
