Ohsohappy
Has anyone done this themselves. Have been looking into shipping our dog over with Emirates from Glasgow to Melbourne. Has anyone managed to sort this out themselves? Thanks
BobPetairUK
There is another thread on here about a guy who tried to use Emirates to do it himself out of Gatwick. I dont think we ever got to the end of his story. There is a really good step by step guide on the DAFF Australia website Before you decide to go it alone, price it properly. We hear of many people who want to take the cheaper options, but by the time they pay the vets, pay for the permit, pay for the RNATT declaration, buy a crate and buy transit permits etc etc they wish they had not. Get a quote from the vets, get the cost of the permits etc etc and then compare it to a pet shippers cost. For a little bit extra, you get the backup and support of people who do this all day long. Pet shipping is expensive whichever way you do it, unfortunately.
Guest colmarwatson
I am looking at going with Jetpets who can provide the dog with a plastic fleece lined crate which has by far the biggest dimensions of all the quotes for $3640, so only about $40-45 more for a bigger & better crate. supercow
@colmarwatson , that price is good, but that's shipping from Australia to the globe, not the other way around. Ive seen prices such as £5000 being baded around!
Peachy
I looked into this and after weighing up all the costs which have to be paid anyway it just wasn't worth the stress. There are quite a lot of hoops to go through. It is certainly achievable but main costs are the quarantine plus shipping which you will incur regardless. We are using Golden Arrow Shippers. So far very helpful, efficient and competitively priced. Also the first "emigration" company that hasn't tried to get me to sign up for extras and pass my details on to third parties. Going luck with it. Would be interested to know how you get on.
House Biatch
We are also using Golden Arrow and are very happy with the personal service and price. I'd really be surprised if you could do it much cheaper yourself - using a agent who knows what they are doing has got to be worth a small fee.
