sharron pickett
Hi all, making the move soon and have a question about our bikes. We have ordered a 20 ft container, and will be bringing our bikes. Now, I know we have to clean them thoroughly, but...do we have to break them down and put them in a box, or just wheel them on and make sure they are secure? Paul1Perth
I think as long as they are clean then it shouldn't be a problem. Don't see a need to take them to pieces. That's the one thing I wished I had brought when I got here. I gave away a pretty good racing bike and as soon as I got here realised how many bike tracks there were. On the good side though there are some bargain bikes second hand here. People seem to upgrade to the latest model of mountain or road bike quite often. Alaska
We just cleaned them very well - didn't take them apart or anything. No problems coming through.
TerryDXB
Just make sure that they are spotlessly clean, with absolutely no signs of any mud or grass, especially on the tyres - a quick wipe down with Jeyes fluid (on the bikes as well as any other outdoor equipment) won't do any harm. anoh
Sent a bike over in October, all I did was clean it with soap and water and use a toothbrush for the tyres etc. No problem through customs.

Suzukiscottie
Our shippers dismantled our bikes. Wheels, handlebars, seats, luggage racks all removed and packed in cardboard. Not sure of their reasoning, but maybe they were tight for space in the container.
