Guest jeffner1974
Hi all, We've been here for about 17 months now and someone recently told us that we can claim tax back in the UK because we never worked a full tax year before we moved. Does anyone know if this is correct and if so what is the form number that we need to fill in? Thanks in advance J x
Que Sera Sera
Its a P85. Now I never filled one out but got a refund anyway after about 18 months but my OH had to actually apply http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/incometax/tax-leave-uk.htm
abz123
We got automatic refunds too in about the same time frame. Note that you may not get much as PAYE is worked out on a cumulative basis so unless you stopped working a couple of months before leaving the UK the tax deducted will be about right. I suspect you would need to do a full tax return now
