Hi all,

We've been here for about 17 months now and someone recently told us that we can claim tax back in the UK because we never worked a full tax year before we moved. Does anyone know if this is correct and if so what is the form number that we need to fill in?

Thanks in advance

We got automatic refunds too in about the same time frame.

Note that you may not get much as PAYE is worked out on a cumulative basis so unless you stopped working a couple of months before leaving the UK the tax deducted will be about right.

I always thought a P85 was for refunds within the year if you leave mid tax year. I suspect you would need to do a full tax return now

Hi

we are just doing this. You will need to fill out the P85 form and submit this with your P45 and P60 for the financial year you left the uk

hope this helps

... unless you are in the Self Assessment system, when it is probable that HM Revenue will want a personal tax return to be lodged (including the Employment and Residence supplements) for the UK tax year of departure before they will issue the tax repayment.

Best regards.
