Lote/Mfl teachers

Hi,

we are moving to Sydney hopefully in the next 12 months. My husband is Australian, so I will apply for spouse visa.

I am I my Nqt year for high school teaching MFL (Italian, Spanish up to A level and French KS3). I know I can only dream about a permanent position, but I am after some casual work 2-3 days max a week.

Can any language teachers give me any feedback about the work situation in Sydney? Thanks

Do you have four years of tertiary (university) education? To teach in any primary or secondary school anywhere in Australia this is an absolute requirement. Your first job is to get your qualifications assessed and then registered with the NSW Teacher Registration Board. They are very exact in their requirements and it does take a while, so start preparing all of the paperwork well before you wish to teach.

Once you have done all that you can register with recruitment agencies that specialise in relief teaching. There is an oversupply of teachers in Australia and relief teaching is often the way in.
