furkew
Where we live, we have heaps of birds dropping in for a chat & a snack, so we often have wild bird seed at hand for the feathered visitors. Normally its cockatoos, king parrots & rosellas, but we have actually trained our dogs to chase off the cockies because they have a tendency to chew the woodwork out of boredom and ruin the decking & balustrades. Yesterday a cocky realised that the dogs weren't paying attention and took the opportunity to steal the container with the bird seed, flew off into a neighbouring tree, and proceeded to happily eat the contents. They might be a bloody nuisance, but they are definitely not stupid!
Kapri
I love them! We have a local gang that visit us most days. I know they have the potential to be destructive but this lot haven't destroyed anything in our garden

Guest The Pom Queen
We have huge flocks and the noise they make is terrible. Love them though but agree how they destroy your house. Lovely photos Paul
jen85
Everything has to be ceramic with them if you want to feed them as they will fly off with it! Also if you feed them the right stuff it's fine, I've seen people feeding them bread before which is sooo bad for them!
LKC
At our daughter's school, they used to take the children's lunch boxes outside in a big plastic crate just before lunch time. However, the cockies worked out that if they took the sandwich containers up in to the trees and dropped them, they would open, revealing their tasty contents! If ever I move the furniture on the verandah, the cockies always appear to sit and look at it, I reckon they are clever enough to see that something is different.
