chrislnd
Hi all, just wanted to get some people's advice who went on a 489 visa or carried on re-sitting the IELTS. I missed out by getting a 7 on the reading, over 8's on all other subjects, I just don't think I can do it again for the 5th time. Any advice would be great. Rupert
There is no need to repost, many of us that "man" the migration forum are already living in Australia. Your original was posted at 1am in Australia time and you reposted at 6am and it is the weekend, patience is needed for this forum due to the time zones. To your question, it really is personal choice. Would you have enough points for the 489 visa, it only gives an extra 5 over the 190 visa and sounds like you are short by 10 or more. Which state do you fancy? Some states allow you to live anywhere on the 489, like SA I believe. In others you will be restricted to certain post codes and people have reported having trouble finding work in those places so you have to weigh it up. What is your occupation, that makes a difference, I wouldn't want to be an accountant looking for work in regional WA for example. I also understand that repeatedly taking IELTS would be frustrating and if you have reached a point where you think no more then this is a legitimate option. Alan Collett
Have you done any of the practice tests? There is plenty of support from IELTS trainers who should help improve your scores - might be worth exploring, if you haven't done this already. Best regards.
