FifiJ
Hi , I am moving to Australia next year. I am a GP myself. I am married with three children, ages 16,11 and 1 . Both myself and husband have hypertension but are otherwise fit and healthy with nil sig Past medical history. The children are fit and healthy . Does anyone have a ballpark figure for monthly private health insurance ? Can anyone advise how much regular prescriptions for a couple of medications each a month will cost? Thanks
Fashionably Late
We pay $314 a month for a top notch policy and we are a family of 5. We are on quite a few meds and rarely spend over $100 a month on meds. The top price is around $36 for a PBS prescription and only one of ours actually costs that. Rupert
We pay about $180 per month for two of us, basic policy, no medical issues for either of us.

VERYSTORMY
We pay about $285 for two of us with BUPA. But, it is the max cover that they offer. Be aware though, it is a much poorer offering than what private cover gives in other countries and the out of pocket fees for hospital treatment can be huge - i had kidney stones and the out of pocket was going to several thousand, so just ended up public and have to say the service and hospital were excellent.
