Hi Everyone,

Well I can hardly believe it but we have finally passed our ACS/RPL assessment. Have been non stop grinning since we heard this morning. Thanks to everyone who has offered words of support during our long wait. Am so excited can hardly form sentences and hate to think what I am going to be like when we get our visas. Thanks again especially to Karen (can't wait) ! Now for the big one.

Hi Nikci

Well Done! I'm so pelased for you. We were exaclty the same as you - big grins for days on end! It's a huge relief to get a positive result, and I can only imagine how hard it was for you having to wait so long. I've been checking on here everyday to see if you had posted anything.

Anyway, WELL DONE!

Karen

Congratulations!

I presume the ACS is the Australian Computer Society - my OH is about to send his skills ass off (just waiting for 1 more reference to come back). If you dont mind me asking, when did you submit it? What was the process? Did you post or do it online?

Thanks - and again, congrats!

Hi Rachael, Matt and Family,

Thanks for your post. Our assessment with the ACS has been a bit of a nightmare not as horrid as for others but slow none the less. We submitted in Oct 07 and in Dec were asked to provide further documentation, one of the references we submitted was not detailed enough, we had 49 days to submit the requested info. We submitted again on 24 January 08 and were told that we would now have to wait between 8 and 12 weeks for a response. Fortunately Karen (her post is included in this thread) had had the same problem and was able to offer me some reassurance namely that it would not necessarily take that long and that they had got theirs back within 6 weeks. We received our back within 4 weeks.

As we have an agent she had given us all the info that we needed for the assessment including format etc the assessment was sent to her by FEDEX and then she sent it onto the the ACS. I am not sure whether you can do this online but I am sure someone will be able to help you. I know that there is a member who specialises in ACS assessments I think he can be found at ptlabs but you may want to search for him on this website.

I wish you all the luck and success with your assessment and you never know I have heard of people getting their assessments back in 22 days - my fingers are crossed and do keep us posted on how things are going.

Regards,

Nikci :v_SPIN:

PS: If I can be of any help even if you want to rant and rave feel free to PM anytime because I will know exactly how you are feeling - you will probably find we all do - but seriously anytime at all.

Congratulations Nikci and family!

Must be a great feeling!!

We are at that frustrating stage where we are waiting for hubbys references, so it's out of our control for the time being. How did you get through that part?!!

(And Hi Karen, hope it's all going smoothly for you?)

Best wishes

Hi Sarah and the Dons,

Thanks for your posts! Waiting for references was awful. One of them we had to send back twice and I must admit it did drive us nuts. Like I said before the people on this website have been a real godsend and a huge support to us and not sure I would have coped as well without being able to vent my frustration on a regular basis.

I hope that the references don't take too long and that the rest of the process goes alot smoother than ours. Have fingers crossed and do keep us all posted on where things are at. Lots of luck to you all.

Thanks for that nikci - probably will be frustrated at the waiting process once submitted. Just that last reference to go now...... R u having to sell a house? We decided, given the market, that we would put ours up for sale (last week) as we didnt want that to stop us once visas come through and have today accepted an offer! We werent expecting a sale that quickly so will be renting for a while. We will have to resist temptation to get a temp visa and go out there asap!

Hope your visa application goes well, should just be a formality. Will have my fingers crossed for you. Incidentally, where r u heading for? Were going to Melbourne.

HI Rachael and family,

WOW - that was a quick house sale not sure I will be that fortunate. Have a few bits to do to the house before putting it onto the market but should be ready by April so am hoping the housing market doesn't do nasty things. Originally we were headed for Melbourne but now off to the Central Coast of NSW - have loads of rellies out that way so opted for NSW as felt the family network already there would help us settle.

Hope the reference arrives soon - am thinking of you and make sure you let us know how it goes!!

Hey Nicki, thanks yeah we passed our RPL/ACS also around thurs last week, I was at a point of giving up as we applied a different way before and it was rejected as my hubby does not have a degree but thank the lord the hours of writing and dragging info out of the hubby means we are 1 step closer. Gosh its hard when you are ready to go in your mind and you get rejected but eh Never say die. We are going to Melbourne and have state sponsorship from Victoria so I hope the next stage which I finished applying for tonight minus Meds/Police checks will be much easier and quicker.

Where are you heading to anywhere near Melbourne maybe we could meet for a coffee when we get there LOL!!! I wish you all the best luck in the world and hope it goes smooth for you.

Hi Sarah,

Yes I had been following your progress with RPL and not sure how you managed the first knock back think I would definitely lost the plot but at least we got there in the end. We are off to NSW Central Coast - have loads of rellies so thought it might make the move a little easier for all of us.

I do hope that you visa doesn't take tooooo long - have just finished filling in all the various forms which have to be scanned and sent to my agent in Melbourne so with any luck it will be filed next week am waiting for my passport and oh english test results which should be here on Friday - so fingers crossed. Have been reading the thread on Sydney and now wish I was off to Mebourne (we were originally planning on Melbourne) but am hoping the coast is a little less bleak than the city - uurghh!

Never say never plan on visiting Melbourne as have friends there so will definitely let you know. Am hoping that we all wont have to wait long for a case officer and visa as I would really like to make the move this year - well wewill just have to wait and see! Keep me posted on how things are going will keep my eye out for your news.

HI Nikci,

Now realised that signature is slightly misleading as we were allocated CO in November when they requested meds and PCCs.

I had to resend PCCs as they didn't save properly and also had to get Victoria to resend our Form 1100 to confirm that they're sponsoring us - that's been over last 3 weeks - so it is now still just a case of waiting!!!

HI Cane Family,

Wishing you all the luck I know how hard the waiting game is. We are using an agent but only found this website after we had submitted our application otherwise probably would have gone with ptlabs. Having said that our agent has been great and we did pass. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you get good response and it doesn't take too long. Keep us posted.

Hi Cane Family

Good luck with your application. It is really stressful waiting for the results to come back. We had convinced ourselves it was going to be bad news, so when a positive result came the relief was fantastic. I'm sure you'll be fine as you've taken good advice.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Karen
