Hello there. I'm afraid I'm in the same position! I'm an Emergency Nurse and have a great deal of experience, however like my thread states I just can not find work at all. I have been in Perth for 3 months now and I've still not done a days work!

Where have you tried looking? I've been through agencies and direct to hospitals but not a sausage! Might have to return to the Uk at this rate! Shame as it took me over a year to get registered with APHRA so such a long process and so much money for nothing!

Hi,

I'm looking everywhere including western Australia,Melbourne, though, not Sydney. Since you are in Perth, have you tried Rockingham Hospital? They are employong a pool of Nurses, there's a lady calle Wendy Lee,try contacting her,she seemed positie, only disadvantage being I'm in the UK. Good luck. xx

Surey there must be some work for nurses or as Mad Cow work are you's looking solely at ITU/ Emergency? Ive specialised in long term condition management but will be willing to do anything until appropriate position becomes available. Good luck

Hi there,

Have you both tried looking on the department of health website? The WA link is http://www.jobs.health.wa.gov.au/page.php?pageID=215

They have loads of jobs for registered nurses, including a pool recruitment for ICU. Or, for clinical nurses, there is also jobs listed too. Hope you both find something soon. Let me know how you get on. Take care, Michelle.

Hi there, thats true about jobs here. We've been in Perth for 3 months, there's no recruitment at the moment. I have joined a Nursing agency & they book me few weeks ahead & more than half of the shifts booked were cancelled it makes me wonder if that shift is really there. It's better now that I've joined NURSEWEST, which is equivalent to NHS professionals in the UK,shifts are more consistent with them. That recruitment pool in Rockingham is non existent, I've done shifts there & asked about it but they don't have the budget. Apparently, theres a waiting list to get in so basically I got no chance. Its very nice unit though, very british! You may find those recruitment pool positions that when you ring up,theres actually no position, i kept an eye on it every week, theres 56 nursing jobs in perth metropolitan area,i think its false advertising;they either need staff or don't; and those advertised in seek are mostly agencies which gets cancelled all the time,it rolls over every week what they advertised; stay where you are unless you got jobs sorted.

I can well believe there is a lack of nursing positions available, even though there seem to be plenty advertised and DIAC still have it on their lists.

Even here in Darwin thete is a waiting list for nursrs wanting jobs.

A friend ,a midwife, recently relocated to Melbourne because for tje last 12 onths the only shifts she could get wete Fri,Sat nigjts.

She has been in Melbourne since Dec and has had no luck.

I was on an assessment for a job a few weeks ago with about 20 others (not nursing) but got talking to a young girl. She was an ICU nurse and was applying for this role as she couldn't get work in her field. She had been to Perth looking but no joy so came back to Melbourne but still not finding anything. She was a lovely young lady, well presented and articulate and I would think from the short time I spent with her she would be an asset to an employer, quite sad to see someone like that walking away from a chosen career path in such a vital role.

Sorry for late reply. I have been looking everywhere. I have had an informal chat with a lady from WA health department and she wasn't too promising. Someone recommended private hospitals, but I don't know of any private hospital. Any one knows which private hospital is recruiting please?x

Also look at Western Health, Barwon Health, http://peninsula.mercury.com.au/, Eastern Health, Barwon Health, Austin Health,

Also look at the Epworth private Hospital. Ramsay health care which has a lot of private hospitals.

If you are prepared to work in the country you could look at Wangaratta hospital, Shepparton Hospital, Ballarat Hospital, Bairnsdale, Hospital.

Northern health as well.

The hospitals in Melbourne come under the different health areas.

As jobs are posted daily you need to keep up with looking.

These are all from Melbourne good luck
