DesiTadka
If I am not wrong, everything boils down to ANZSCO code for which he want his skills assessed. If the ANZSCO code for telecom engg and ele engg are different then he must stick to one profile and prepare CDR which shows the work experience relevant to that. If the ANZSCO code isn't separate and has something for common platform than sure, go ahead and prepare an application under that umbrella. He can work as telecom engg or ele engg once he migrates to AU. Hi Team, One of my friend did his engineering from Electronic & communication field and now he is applying for skilled assessment for that he had assess himself as telecommunication engineer from the Engineers Australia as he is working in telecom sector,so question is could he apply for state sponsorship for electronic engineer category and do the telecommunication engineer & electronic engineer correlated. Thanks \\BR Rajat Edited May 15, 2013 by DesiTadka

I had initially applied for 'Electrical Engineer' but the assessor informed me that I can either fit in Engg Tech or Electronics Engr. Category as i have done my B.E. in Electronics. Now 189 visa has reached its occupational ceiling for Engg Technologist...can i still apply as Electrical Engineer with same EA assessment. Please kindly help me
DesiTadka
Engineers Australia is now processing applications received on or before Feb 27th which is my ack date. So is there a way to follow up with them or check progress of the assessment? How long does it take from reaching the processing date? 10 days or more? Ryot
Hi tayloal, I currently have some feedback re my skilled assessment from my app posted in March 2013. They have advised me I require letter headed references in order for them to complete my skilled employer assessment. Quick question, are these simply refernces from line managers stating the skills (5no. main duties I performed). I originally sent job contracts, usually from agency's within the companies I was emplyed by stating my role. It wasn't explicit that they required 5 duties on a letter head. I filled out a skilled employer spreadsheet and listed the duites. Anyway, I've emailed my case office to acertain exactly the format they require as I woun't have anything like that from 10 years ago (other than the job contracts). Just wondered how you wnet about it?
DesiTadka
If I understand correctly, what EA requires is a document which is either an employment verification letter, or an appointment letter or a reference letter on a company letter head or a statutory declaration which contains all the details about the time period that you worked there, the positions you held during the work period, the job duties ( at least 5-10 duties) that you performed and any recognition or achievements that you have obtained during your service. Such detailed documents gives them good idea about the type or work that you did.... What is your application acknowledgement date in March 2013. Mine is 28-Feb-13 and I haven't heard anything from EA. Hi tayloal, I currently have some feedback re my skilled assessment from my app posted in March 2013. Ryot
Hi Desi, The application date is 4th March 2013. I lodged this with a CDR assessment too. I thought I would double up. I've since emailed former managers for a reference with the duies I performed aligned to my skilled employer assessment spreadsheet.

DesiTadka
I received positive assessment from EA for Mechanical Engineer.. I HAVE to go to ACT and file for SS.. Now the occupation is open in ACT but with special condition "Must be currently employed in Canberra"... Now my agent says, it's all okay..we can go ahead and apply.. Question is .. can I? If Yes, would it cause any hurdle in the future?
coastie
Why not apply in another state? It's on WA's list?
DesiTadka
My partner (not married to her yet) can only go to ACT based on her Marketing Specialist occupation so I have to limit myself to that destination. I am not sure if ACT will open up that occupation (Mechanical Engineer) category in August in new SOL list or keep it same. My insane agent says that ACT plans to remove it completely.... If not ACT SS, then I will have to re-appear for IELTS and get 7bands in each module and go with 189 route which is more time consuming... I don't know what to do... I guess the best is to wait till August... OR find a job and get an offer letter in Canberra and apply for ACT SS based on that offer letter.... Why not apply in another state? It's on WA's list? I am hoping I just get the grant because everything is uploaded and I am still waiting. It's way beyond the 5 weeks CO allocation time now as well ! DesiTadka
I got positive assessment from EA for Mechanical Engineer. I must go to ACT for personal reasons. The ME occupation is Open but has special condition, "Must be currently employed in Canberra"... What if I apply for ACT SS now & EOI under 190... And worst case scenario if the SS gets rejected.. Can I submit a new EOI under 189 at a later date ( which will require me to re do the IELTS and score 7 bands each as I have 6.5 in writing from previous attempt and so I can't reach 60 points w/o claiming IELTS points)... Do I have anything to loose except $300, non refundable fee for ACT SS? Please help..... Thanks in advance...

kohatian3319
well the current time as in my case was less than 12 weeks although they do mention a worst case scenario of 19 weeks. MY CDR application was received at EA on 18th June 2013 and my result was dispatched on 11th September 2013. So it took almost 11 weeks. kohatian3319
Another point is that EA has got nothing to do with Class 189 or 190 time priorities. It processes CDRs irrespective of 189/190.
