cazstef
Does anyone know if i need to de-gas my air conditioning prior to putting it on a roll on roll off (RORO) at Newcastle? I have a BMW 118d 56 plate.
PontePom
I'd say yes I had to do mine before it was shipped and have a cert to say it had been done *Edited* Just a thought it was over 2 years since we shipped ours so maybe things have changed
pegibson
I read a few weeks ago, if you do not do it, you need a licence to import the gas into Australia, at about 600 oz dollars
KZ1
If your aircon is gassed with R134a you will be OK & do not need to degass - you simply sign a waiver (for a pre-charged equip licence) that the aircon gas meets the requirements.. Most cars within the last 10-15 years use R134a. Anyone importing a car under PIS can gain an expemption from obtaining a "pre-charged equipment licence" SUBJECT TO the the refrigerant type. R134A are fine and you can sign the waiver Most cars have a sticker in the engine bay stating the type of gas used. refer to the thread by IronChef which has a lot of info on this subject also see www.environment.gov.au/atmosphere/ozone/licences/vehicle-import.html most of the document requirements will have been met as part on the PIS import licence
pwkl
For your car, no you don't as KZ1 says.
Iron Chef
Ok you will be entitled to an exemption if you can show that you're shipping personal effects (even if they travel separately to your car), so no need to degas.
