The visa is tied electronically to the passport number. When you renew the passport you need to let the immi department know what the new number is and they will tie that to the visa so it's recognised at the point of entry into Australia. Rupert Posted January 1, 2013 Share Posted January 1, 2013 thanks I wouldn't just staple passports together myself, it is not that hard to get the visa number transferred to the new passport. piglet1 Posted January 2, 2013 Share Posted January 2, 2013 I carry my old passport with me which has the sticker on it, sometimes they ask (usually the Malaysian customs) to see the visa sticker.
