corinne14470
Hi I have informed Centrelink of my family's return a month ago and have had 2 payments since with one due over the Christmas period. I have now emailed twice, once being with the international email address. Some of the money is mine, probably only a couple of hundred or so sterling but I would like to close the account. Anyone else had this problem? Plus my husband worked for 2 months and I worked for a measly 3 weeks - do we have to submit a tax return? Is that what could be holding the response up?? Thanks in advance...
Que Sera Sera
I think you would actually be entitled to a tax refund if you do a return.
johnaross
When the wheels of bureaucracy catch up they will claim the money back some don't spend it just yet. As for tax they will not chase you because they probably owe you money.
Chortlepuss
You really should submit a tax return to get your money back - go on to ATO website, you can do an early return if you've left the country - don't let them nick your money!!! starlight7
They'll get you end the end, unfortunately. A friend was told they had overpaid her TEN YEARS later- and they said they would take her to court if she didn't pay!! Incompetent bs
