Guest katleigh83
Hello my partner is on Incapacity Benefit. He has his permanet spouse visa and is moving to australia permanetly in early january 2013.My question is when does he phone the job center to inform them of this and for them to stop his benefit ? We are pretty sure he cant recieve the benefit in Australia as the Uk stopped the agreement with Australia.Does he inform this of his intended move now or does he wait until just before he leaves ? We cant afford his pension to be stopped now,as he still needs to live and survive for the next 5 weeks or so.If anyone can help me out I would be very grateful. thanks for reading and sorry if this is in the wrong section,as I was unsure where to post it. thanks
newjez
I'd wait until the day before you get on the plane. I'd write them a letter too, and keep a copy of it.
Guest
I'd give the benefits people a call and ask. Have you had a quick look on the official website for all the info on claims being paid if you move overseas?
Guest
I know for child benefit you leave it till the last possible minute before notifying them as they stop it pretty much straight away.
_shel
It makes no difference when you call them. He's entitled to it up until the day he leaves the country. Ring Monday, give them the date you're leaving and it will be paid up until then. Depending on pay dates he may not get any for a week before or he may get a payment after you arrive in Australia. Or leave it until the day he leaves, makes no difference.
