sami
My son who is at the moment under our 457 visa, did his Bachelor degree in Perth, has now got his skills assessed as Software Engineer 261313, has done his Ielts, and points wise has 60 points. We had thought WA sponsorship would be quicker, but his code is not on the list. So next option would be skilled Independent - 885 or 189 now? This code is both on the SOL and CSOL schedule 1. He has been working since February in his field of study. Does he still have to go via Skill select first to get an invitation to apply? (We live in Perth) Would he need to do medicals before applying? Thanks for the help.
Rupert
What do you mean "does he still have to get an invitation to apply"? If he wants to apply for the skilled migrant visa, then he would have to go through the same process as anyone else. No he should not get medicals before he applies, or lodges an EOI, he should however get a skills assessment and take an IELTS test.
sami
Thanks Rupert. My doubt was - since he already has a job, would he still need to apply via EOI. Well, he probably does.
Tickled Pink
He could go through the ENS pathway if his employer is willing to sponsor him and he fulfils the criteria. If he doesn't yet have enough work experience, 3 years required, he could get 457 sponsorship in his own right, again, if employer is willing. If his current job is on the CSOL this cold be possible.
