There is a meds helpline available in most states and if you can call them they will give you unbiased information. Pregnancy hormones can have us up and down at the best of times, so I do hope you find the right answer.

Most drug manufacturers have so much negative info on their products as they feel the need to cover their backs!

Have you got a support network? I found many friends that have become lifelong by going to the Australian Breastfeeding Association which has groups all over. You can take children as well as babies and often find others who are close by to organise baby sitting, coffee mornings etc,

Take care of you first, then you can take care of your family.

I know, I feel that I should have an appointment to have all available literature from psychiatrist. I think in essence that is the problem. On Monday am going to phone and ask.

They may not give you literature as such, but will certainly have a discussion with you surrounding which meds are safer. Alternatively, when I worked in the UK we would ask for one off conusltations from the psychiatrist who headed the mother and baby unit in Manchester as they had a lot more experience in peri-natal care. There are more and more studies happening but there is still limited knowledge which is why Dr's are still cautious. As I said before you need to have the discussion with a specialist regarding benefit/risk. It sounds already that you may be relapsing and this may effect you post natally.

I hope you are able to get an appointment soon so that your mind can be put at rest and you can enjoy your pregnancy.

Thanks. I do have support now. I am back in UK and this is basically the reason I moved home. I was in the GC for 5 years but just didn't have much luck with finding pals (probably because I was depressed and having a breakdown and everyone thought WTF is up with her:laugh:)

Someone close to me took them during her pregnancy and gave birth to a very premature baby ( who is fine now). There was no reason for the prematurity that she or any doctor would say but I know this is what she thought. Sounds horrible I know but just a warning-maybe make sure that the type taken are not any of the ones in this article- better safe than sorry. I hate being one of those people that is a doom-sayer so apologise for this .

For every bad story, there is a good....my mother took ADs while pregnant with my brothers (there was not a chance in hell they were going to take her off them - she was quite a bad case). All normal births, normal babies and now very normal men. Good luck! :)
