Well decided to take the boys but oh left a month ago and i go in 2-3 weeks the cats are with his parents been there less than a month and are being a total nightmare scratching furniture and his mother so ive ordered sprays, felliway more scratching equiptment but I know what there like( well max) and I dont think its gonna stop they have to be there till end of august before they can fly the cost of extra time in quarentine is too high. Ive been looking at catterys and for 90 days its £1400 :S. Has anyone found any that do discounts for long termers or any other options. We may have to consider the rehoming route again but i only have 18 days left and my final uni exam to do and a house move :(

any help much appreciated a good moan has helped :)

How much would it be for a hut and small pen to put in parent-in-laws garden as temporary measure? Or second hand shed and homemade pen? A local handyman may be able to help build one. Or explain situation to local rescue centre and see if they have anyone with an empty pen ready in their garden. It would be heartbreaking to part with them for the sake of 90 days care. Hope you find a solution - you could do without the extra stress.

they dont have a very big garden. My oh thinks we should rehome max and Ive spoken to the breeder and she agree's. I think since day one although hes been happy and we love him very much he would have been better in an enviroment with people in a lot and we both work full time so thought we were being responsible by getting 2. I have a few people who want him that have excellent homes for him to roam and be with him more and give him the extra time he needs. Heartbreaking but I do think he needs more than we can give or he wouldnt act out.

Thanks for your advice much appreciated, im going to do a short trial with one of the homes and see how he gets on fingers crossed.

Hi Vixxy,

Sorry to hear you're having problems. We had 3 cats and when we found out that we were going to be emigrating we had a major chat about what we were going to do. We went from taking all 3, to rehoming all 3 to eventually rehoming 2 of them. The 2 we rehomed although were happy with us, we knew that they wanted/needed more. Tammy would have preferred to be an only cat as she was a little shy and the other cats were more confident. Trixy was desperate to go outside (our cats were indoor) and as she was only 11 months (the other 2 being 4) she just wanted to play with the older 2 but they didn't often want to play!

We found perfect homes for them both, exactly what we had dreamed for them both. It was emotional and at one point we just wanted to get them back. But they have both settled in really well and have everything they have ever wanted. We know that we made the right decision in rehoming them. Tiggy is the one that has to stay with my Dad for a month and then in quarantine for a month!!

Whatever you do I really hope it all works out for you. Think about your babies and what would be best for them too.

thanks kaleigh good to know it can work. The new home I had found is off already as there cats are outdoors I presumed when my friend had told her about my cats she'd mentioned this so the hunt continues hopefully ill find max the perfect home or why part if it's not to make an improvement for him. Its making it harder that my oh is already there so I feel alone in the decision but this forum helps. I need to revise for my final uni exam so hopefully I can focus n get max sorted at the same time
