Zetland - ok place to live?

Hi everyone,

We have our 457 visa and are moving to Sydney in 7weeks time! We have done extensive researching on areas and have a budget of $650pw for a 2 bed. Weve seen some lovely new apartments in Zetland which are close to the train and looks an ok area. Does anyone have any info on Zetland? How far would it be from Bondi and the beaches?

Job is based in Alexandria - we ideally wanted to live by the beach but these apartments by Zetland are huge and brand new!

Any suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated,

Many Thanks,

Jay

Zetland is ok but its pretty much an industrial estate around there ,you can get train to bondi junction but then fair walk to beach or you could get the bus ,lots of better areas towards bondi to live but will cost you more i suspect

Zetland's not bad. It is a semi-industrial area but now has lots of new development. It's not suburbia - there are huge apartment blocks interspersed with factories and car yards. There's a Coles and a brand new Aldi just up the road at Waterloo plus the mega-trendy Danks Street which is full of cafes, food outlets and homeware stores. It's an up and coming area on the whole.

It's handy for the beach (Coogee is closest about a 10 minute drive), the city, the airport and Bondi Junction. Not a bad place to be - particularly if you are working in Alexandria.

Hi, we have friends that live in a new two bed flat in Zetland. It's a great flat and you get a lot more for your money than in a lot of areas. I guess the big question is what sort of lifestyle are you looking for? Bondi is about 15-20 mins from Zetland but parking will cost about $5.50 an hour on the street!
