  1. I know this is an old thread but we’ve had the same request due to my husbands drunk and disorderly caution (from over 20 years ago!). Do either of you have a template for the statutory declaration so we know if we’re on the right track?
  2. Hi - yes he did pass!! I’m so sorry I didn’t reply to your messages to give you the outcome. He did really well and finally got the scores he needed by doing the general test and following all of your advice. It was super useful! I feel like I can’t keep up at the minute with all of the stuff we’ve got going on so apologies for being ignorant - your help was very appreciated and absolutely made a difference!!
  3. Hi everyone, I’ve submitted our EOI for a 190 (not likely) and a 491 (feeling hopeful) but I’m just wondering if this looks correct? What does “the EOI for this subclass is ready to be completed” mean? It says the status is “submitted” so I’m confused by it.
  4. Thank you that’s really helpful but do you know if the Australian Government require us to have Academic or General as part of our application?
  5. Can anyone advise, my husband had completed the IETLS academic exam twice but isn’t scoring the required 8 in each section for the maximum amount of points for migration. He’s scored 7.5 in writing twice, which gives him enough for professional registration in Aus if we make it there but not enough for migration. When he was at the test centre there was someone else there who said that the IELTS General is all that’s needed for migration and it’s much easier than the academic. Can anyone confirm if we should book a resit for the Academic or General please? It’s very expensive to keep resitting so if he can do the General for migration it would be so much easier!
  6. I’ve just had a 491 visa suggested for my husband for WA as he’s a primary teacher, after 3 years we would get PR. What do I need to know as a family moving over? Would our children be eligible for free state school? Medicare? Could we purchase a house? Could I work? Any advice would be so gratefully received!!
  7. Hi, sorry for the late reply. An agent has suggested this for us tonight but I don’t know anything about the 491 so feel confused. Have you heard anything yet?
  8. @paulhand @Marisawright do you know if there’s any published statistics about what jobs/volumes of jobs and what points scores the successful visa applicants had that were granted PR?
  9. Thank you! It’s just all so nerve wracking it’s hard not to overthink every step of the way isn’t it? Congratulations on your PR - what an amazing time lies ahead for you!
  10. What can we realistically do expect for a 190 EOI? What factors come into account?
  11. He’s got a four year BA (hons) with a PGCE so qualified by aus standards too. We definitely meet all the criteria, it’s just whether we stand any chance to be invited that I’m unsure about.
  12. We’ve got 75 points including the extra 5 from state sponsorship.
  13. I’ve spent part of the night (have a newborn and doing night feeds) lost in old threads on here reading peoples experiences and it’s left me feeling really low and that we don’t have a chance. My husband is the main applicant, he’s a 43 year old primary teacher with 10 years experience and fully qualified. We’re submitting our skills assessment today to get the ball rolling. Do we really have a chance? If so what state is our best bet to apply to as I’ve seen a lot on here people saying not to choose “any state” on our EOI.
  14. Thank you! Can you believe after I wrote this I checked the postbox and there it was!
  15. My husband has completed the IELTS test and we’re waiting for the certificate so we can upload it to the skills assessment page. It’s the final piece of evidence we need to upload it and it’s been over two weeks since the test. It says we can download a scorecard, is that sufficient to upload or do we need to wait for the paper certificate to arrive in the post, scan it and upload that instead?
  16. Has anyone settled in a different state than the one that sponsored you? If so, has there been any action taken by the sponsoring state? Or repercussions in any way? Two approved Mara agents have told me that it’s a moral obligation and not a legal obligation to move to the sponsoring state and that no action will be taken other than when/if we apply for citizenship we might be looked on less favourably.
  17. @Ceebs-x thank you this is really useful! I have no idea what a HAP ID is haha. Addresses are easy for us, I’ll start making a list of everything else though - thank you!
  18. Thank you! I will start to compile dates/places. I think that’s going to be the hard one for sure. I will contact HMRC asap for that letter, @paulhand do you think that letter will be sufficient or will I also need to supply bank statements too?
  19. We’re in the process of submitting our EOI for a 190 visa and I’m starting to plan ahead for if/when we receive an invitation to apply. The list of required documentation on the Australian immigration website that we’d need to submit for our visa applications seems really straightforward; marriage licence, drivers licence, birth certificates, skills assessments, IELTS test etc. However, reading other peoples experiences online has me a bit worried! They’re saying they’ve been requested to give details of every single place they’ve ever travelled to outside of the UK (with dates!) as well as evidence of income for the last 8 years (although apparently they said you can supply bank statements so that won’t be too difficult to prove). Is this true?! The travel thing has us worried as we don’t have the best memory at all!
  20. Thank you that’s really helpful. We’re speaking with them today so hopefully we’re in a better position once we’ve done that.
  21. For anyone with experience of the AITSL teacher skills assessment: what evidence did you supply as evidence of observed teaching? It states on the guidance “Evidence of supervised teaching practice: an official, signed and dated document from the awarding university (required)”. We don’t have anything like this with my husbands certificates and although we’ve contacted the university asking them to give us something we’re worried with him qualifying 10 years ago that they won’t be able to supply anything?
  22. Thank you everyone, this has been really reassuring. Although he’s qualified to teach at secondary all of his experience is in primary so we’d have to apply through that. Will definitely put in for both the 190 and the 491 as hadn’t even considered that!
  23. Hi all After originally looking into emigrating over 10 years ago and deciding the time wasn’t right we’ve now decided it’s now or never. My husband would be the main applicant, he’s a primary teacher and is 44 this December so time is not on our side. He’s doing the academic IELTS this Saturday and submitting the skills assessment as soon as possible. Does anyone have any experience of emigrating on this type of visa? What are our chances once we’re invited to apply? Which state would be most likely? We currently have 75 points. Any advice/experience/tips that could help us? Thank you!
