  1. My fur babies have gone to their new home One settled in straight away, Gizmo. He obviously doesn't miss me! (lol), Penny has gone into hiding. Their new humans sent me pics last night, but she'll come around as she as her bro from another mother there. They are lovely people and the cats will be spoiled rotten. So while I am very sad, I am glad they are safe and loved and will live their best life. Here is Gizmo loving his new home
  2. Hopefully another Apple person will come along and have a solution for you. There must be a way
  3. Ah nice, good to know. Thank you Ooo just saw you can open kids versions of ISA's, that's good! Oh nevermind that's for army folk etc .. DOH!
  4. Cats are off tomorrow, found a lovely couple who are taking both together. I will miss them like crazy but can rest knowing they are going to a great home and they are going to stay in touch and keep me updated. Real Estate got my notice to Vacate on Monday - All good! , sent via Email. Check Later that afternoon "You have an open inspection booked for 25th" via text, yesterday "Your open inspection is now advertised for xyz address" 9:20 on A Saturday.... NICE! (Not) Anyhoo I looked up my rights as I thought, hold up this isn't quite right. I was correct. A) They are meant to ask me first (and I have to agree in writing) not just tell me, B) They are meant to negotiate a suitable time, again not just tell me. So I will be having words when they rock up this weekend. RUDE! I have no issue with it, they need to find new Tenants, I get that. But no, you will not just tell me when and expect me to jump. Grrrr.
  5. This is why I use PC's all I will need to do is change the language to English UK and get a British keyboard I hope you can find a solution though? Apple store?
  6. Aside from NI contributions, Is there still, I don't even know what it's called from memory, but back then mum used to pay into like a Private thing pretty sure it was called Prudential? I guess it was sort of like super, but not called that. Private pension scheme? Is that a thing? Or am I remembering wrong?
  7. Cliche, but it's never too late well certainly not at your ages
  8. My mum is 62 so that's why she is coming with us, she too has never settled here, but stayed because I was here basically, so when the ex told us to bugger off, that was that. We have some family here, but as they say you can choose your friends but not your family so yeah, wouldn't stay on their behalf. LOL As for Friends, you're doing better than me but you are so right about Aussie friends coming and going. Although I do have two good Aussie friends, but they are both interstate,so it's not like we can go out and Socialise. I agree with Toots, make a long term plan, not sure how old you are etc, but life is definitely for living, and too short. You have to do what makes you happy at the end of the day, something I should taken my own advice many years ago, but then I wouldn't I have my boys I suppose, swings and roundabouts. Definitely see a GP about your Anxiety/panic attacks if you haven't, it's not a fun way to live. Mine won't go away per say, but it is somewhat manageable.
  9. No need to be sorry, I know exactly how you feel, I too have anxiety etc. Yes been living in stress for years now. I don't think I know what stress free means these days. Maybe that will change once home. At least a little. My previous relationship hasn't helped there. But onward and upwards! Are you staying here soley for your Husband/Parents? That's pretty much why I stayed here when I was with the ex, I was never wanting to be here deep down, but because we met and had kids that was my 'life' as it happened, but that longing never went away. I hope you can get back one day, you definitely sound like you need too. x
  10. So much this. I 'm sorry you are stuck though scousers. This is why We are going though, we just don't fit, and yes 26 years later,it's time to go. So yes, don't waste time like we have just putting up with it, hoping it will get better, hoping you will get there. Follow your gut
  11. Car is sold. Stuff listed on Facebook is pretty much flying out the door (a couple of things via Gumtree) Plane tickets booked. Just need to sort out Move cube (have two more boxes to pack and then done) and accommodation (still can't decide where to start) but we have decided to have a little Holiday before settling down and getting back into real life, as it's been a while between one of those. Nerves, excitement, anxiety and happiness all rolled into one right now. Breathe!! LOL
  12. The only electrical's I am taking is my PC which I'll just get a new cord with a UK plug on the end, and my Nespresso machine (lol yes I love my coffee that much) and can get the same Pods over there for it. I'll either cut the plug off or just get an adapter for that, oh and my Echo Show 5 (Alexa) pretty sure I could just get a UK version cord for that too. I'm not taking TV's etc as I heard they can be a pain in the arse to tune/get working despite Aus/UK using same system. I need a new one anyway mine is pretty old now. ETA: As long as your stuff is rated 220-240 volts it's fine. UK being 230, Aus 240.
  13. I will more than likely have both, it's good to have back ups. I have my ING set up and ready to go, got my card the other day, stil have HSBC global and MoneyCorp of course. So plenty of options for the time being, until it all gets sorted once we are back in Blighty.
  14. There's a few of those app based banks now, there is also Monzo and Monese and some others that have excellent reviews. Britbound actually suggested those to me, you can open once in the UK, requires passport/address(any uk address) and a selfie for security. Salary etc can also be paid into them, and I may not even bother with a bricks and mortar Bank, will see how it pans out I guess and whether I need a 'traditional' account or not.
  15. No worries - Happy to help
  16. As a citizen you can walk straight back in. Jobs it is hard to get one before going, unless you are currently working with a company whom has a base/s in the UK then you could possibly apply for a transfer. SOME people have been able to secure work before going, but that depends on the recruitment agency/company hiring. No harm in trying? Another option for you given you're young is check out places like Britbound (they have a website) they are based in London and have packages (The Visa part doesn't apply to you being a citizen, the packages are customisable) to help you set up in the UK including accommodation/jobs eg: bar work.
  17. Can you do the cash out while paying at a register thing in the UK like you can here , on debit card. Couldn't find an answer on google? Aussie and/or UK cards.
  18. Oh geez That's brutal eta: Would she allow you to take your son with you if you were to move back to the UK, I see from another post you are in your 40s as am I, life certainly isn't over we are still young ish I'm lucky in that my ex is allowing me to take our sons BUT he never really had a close bond with them anyway even after 13 years >.< but hey ho that's not a story for public eyes.
  19. Wowee, I could just feel the excitement and happiness oozing out of the screen reading that. What an amazing trip you guys had and so many memories to cherish. Made me all warm and fuzzy inside
  20. Oh right, that's good to know I want to get rid of my Optus phone due to issues, they said I can hand it back and not pay or pay $500 and contract cancelled, I've basically had minimal/no signal since moving here (have to use wifi calling) and they said it would be fixed, but here we are a year later so they agreed I have a case. Anyway if i can get a pre-paid Aussie number, I'll just do that I think, as my phone has dual sim, so then I can stick a UK one in there too, covers all bases. Everyday I'll use UK . Bank stuff, Aussie number. I love how you find out random tips just being on here. Cheers
  21. Ooops. Does your bank not allow international phone number or via the App? I know CBA and NAB do, NAB you can just let them know or you can turn off sms auth over the phone, if you won't have access to a device, and CBA also but without SMS you have to use their App and allow notifications to get authorisations. I wasn't aware you could use an Aussie pre-paid sim over there, does it not chew the credit because of roaming etc? eta: Actually, could you not have called your Australian bank and get them to authorise a new payee over the phone? Instead of the rigmarole you went through? or is that where the form came in to play?
  22. It's the same in Australia. Our local 'Private' School has the worse self entitled and misbehaved brats I have seen, always at the local shops etc causing trouble. Both of mine went through Public for Primary and it was an amazing school, and in terms of Education there have been many studies that basically proves fee paying or not doesn't particularly play a role in educational outcomes, as you say it's more about snobbery. If kids want to learn and are taught in a manner that keeps them interested/parent support, then they will be successful.
  23. Yes you did, I was under the impression it was more than one document. All good
