  1. Not your fault at all, to be fair when I dd the quote the options were something like I have small stuff to move or large stuff to move, I went with small, but it didn't actually say Movecube anywhere. Ah well it worked out in the end
  2. Found a buyer for my fridge a lovely lady who has just moved to Australia. She is also going to take my dining table (which was listed free no bites tho to date) and I told her she can take whatever I have left by then if she likes, oh and the washing machine (also listed free as it's old) if the person who claims to be coming Friday falls through, So that's that. As I said the other crap is leaving Monday via the rubbish removal bloke. Oh and Gardner is coming tomorrow to do backyard, carpets on Monday annnnnnd that will be it! Oh and Movecube is coming tomorrow morning instead of the 14th as well HOORAY! So that's that.. We made it! Woo hoo
  3. Well today was fun, Seven Seas called me and basically told me I Booked the wrong thing, and that I Needed a move cube... Eh? That's what I booked.. Nope stupid me booked single box service, anyway large will be $1700 or medium $948 , me .. bloody marvellous!!!!!!!! Sigh. Anyhoo got the dimensions of the cubes, measured it on the floor/wall of garage. All my crap fits in a medium PHEW! So only ended up being an extra $38 from original quote. Log in, inventory has gone, call then back.. er guys where's my documents... Oh sorry you have to do them again (bang head on desk). login go to do inventory, everything is now listed as individual items, which i then I have to delete ONE BY ONE... Seriously? Try to add my boxes eg: box 1 contains x, y, z nope can't do it *scratches head* calls them back.. on hold 20 mins.. speak to someone.. Hello I'm trying to redo my documents because I have been updated to Movecube etc.. I can't seem to add Box 1, and the itemised list, Box 2 Etc like I did originally with box dimensions. You need to list each item individually.. but I Just deleted them all...*bang head again* So one by one Box one X item, Box one second item, box one third item - FFFFFSSSSSSSSS What the hell.... Oh and when they changed me to Movecube, did they book it in for the 14th as per original booking? Nooooooooo so then I find out they might not have one available on Friday (panic ensues) But I booked the 14th originally, oh sorry, we might have one, but it might have to be earlier (i stressed a thousand times we are leaviing on the 17th).. (lucky I have packed everything hey) so allegedly they will call me in the morning to confirm. So that was my day.. thank god for Pizza and Wine! Oh one good thing got some quotes to remove some furniture that isn't sellable eg mattresses, couch (it's fkd) one bloke wanted $780 (piss off) another nice chap is doing it for $300 so that's something. Ooof! Eta: Wow just got a text via the tradey service stating Mr $780 is requesting payment.. just txt him asking why when i never booked him (told him i wanted to get more quotes) *insert BS reason* Delete/Block. Piss off Mr. Tomorrow is going to be fine... >.<
  4. Hotel booked near airport. Hire car booked to avoid Taxi/traffic headache/no need to rush. Need to book someone to take couch/beds and some other bits. Slightly annoyed Bin wasn't emptied properly this morning and Recycling not until next weekend, doh! Have a lot of stuff to put in it, already full from last empty >.< (annoying not having a car anymore) Sevenseas said I will get a text by 6pm day before pick up (Friday) all boxes packed/marked with details as required. Feeling sick with only 8 days to go... Breathe!!!!!
  5. Great news, Yes I was perplexed when I first went to apply as I missed the Commonwealth Passport holder information initially, I read it, but didn't take it in? But it all worked out. I was actually surprised how easy and fast I got our Passports too given we were all new applications and being in the UK etc. Faster than my kids Aussie ones lol.
  6. Exactly right, I mean we can lift
  7. Definitely more geared towards the office culture, retail, etc and so on, in Aus at least. I went for a cleaning role once out of desperation, the guy whom did the Interview at the hotel was concerned I wouldn't be able to lift laundry, the big bags that go off to be washed... Just by looking at me. I was 36 then, Never mind the fact that I work out regularly and can probably lift more than him. Not sure if that were ageism or sexism didn't give me a trial run or ask me to lift bag, nope just wrote me off just like that.
  8. LOL Just as we were talking about earlier, this appeared on my FB feed... Surprise! Not! (Re: Ageism in Australia, and now recruiters have been told not to put forward people over 40, because they "don't fit the culture") https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-02-07/recruiters-told-to-discard-older-job-applicants/11940558?sf229718208=1&fbclid=IwAR08BBJWSDF0Gw_briBhw1-Ivr_9v8Wt9w7KtSst69-6qVcZc9ega8aEf4s
  9. Oh I know! Under 40 and feeling like I was already on the scrap heap! UGH. Yes you are right, trendy blokes, young people, junior positions, degrees needed for entry level positions(never mind your work, life, tech experience) ... *rage* Totally frustrating indeed.
  10. My movecube quote originally was for 10 boxes + 2 bikes was around $800. By the time I got around to actually wanting to book/packed all my boxes, it changed to 21 boxes, 1 Bike + 1 other item and it's $891 door to door 68-84 days shipping time.
  11. I used an old colleague/friend still, whom works as a contractor in the banking industry (IT) and included the colour copy of his Aussie passport. Was fine.
  12. I'm recently 42, also a background in IT and well I can assure you Australia is painfully ageist compared to the UK, Part of the reason I started my own business a few years back. Not even 40 and I could not secure a position, and I had amazing references, work history etc and so on. Bloody ridiculous and rage inducing. My mum had issues too after being made redundant, years of loyalty and experience, accounted for nothing. The anti discrimination laws are a joke too, good luck proving you didn't the get job because you're "too old", the Liberals "Just get a job" made me want to throw bricks at the TV. It's easy as, didn't you know?
  13. That's what I did regarding the web details, as in my mind we are moving to the UK so yes they needed proof we are entitled to board plane/enter uk. I was just confused at what point my kids have to show their Aussie passports, as obviously those details are not on the bookings. Am I right in thinking they scan them at then smart gate thing? Those didn't exist last time we flew international in 1993 lol.
  14. Will definitely report back. - 10:20pm Melbourne 18th Feb, then 7am from Doha to LHR Arriving 11/11:30am (Woo hoo!) I too like tracking flights
  15. If moving they would need UK passport when we get there or else my kids would be marked as visitors if they showed APP. That part is fine anyway I think I just need to change/get changed the Melbourne to Doha part as that is the leaving Australia leg, BA has our UK passport info now as requested via email a few days ago so that's fine for when we get there. Amibovered has said they did the same and check in just changed it, so if I can't get airline to do it before hand I'll just show both at check in at Melb.
  16. It was at time of booking for the first leg, then later on different airline after layover had most of our info but not the passports so had an email asking to put that in again. Then yeah I woke up at 3am thinking shit, hang on when was I meant to put the kids Aussie passport info in, rather than their British ones (given both legs are technically to the UK). God I can't wait to get there, maybe then I can actually sleep properly.
  17. Thanks fingers crossed I don't get a grumpy butt at border control lol.
  18. API = Advanced passenger info which I had to put on flight bookings. I used our UK passport info from Melb to Doha, Doha to LHR legs. But then I recently remembered Aussie passport holders have to leave on Aussie passports, hence my confusion? (My two kids have aussie passports, as per the "have to have an Aussie passport to leave Australia" rule ) I'll have both on me anyway, just wasn't sure if I need to change info with airline? for Melb to Doha part? >.<
  19. Have I screwed up? I know you leave Australia on Aussie passport. On first leg of flight tickets I have put British Passport info as API because we are flying to the UK so will be using those when we get to London obviously, should I have put Aussie passport info for my kids instead? Or do we just show Aussie passports at some point before checking in at Melbourne Airport? How does the border thing work? Do i need to update first leg of flight to Aussie info? Yes I'm a loser who hasn't flown for donkeys years LOL
  20. What Marisa said. I'm using Movecube, easy peasy and good price.
  21. Exactly which is why I said good luck with that... as in no chance.
  22. They much prefer you be in the UK some will respond, most won't unless you can do a direct in house transfer, you won't have much luck. Pretty rare to secure employment before going from everything I have researched/read here and elsewhere , aside from specialist roles. Nurses etc. Annoying, but it is what it is.
  23. The rules re: Aussie Penison FYI You must have lived in Australia for at least 10 years, and. Of those 10 years that you've lived in Australia, there should be at least 1 period where you have lived in Australia continuously for 5 years. So you're out of luck unless you came back here for 5 years with no break.. hehe
